Working a Work-At-Home Program
Most people who begin a work at home program soon give up after starting. Sometimes it is because of unrealistic expectations that they will make $10,000/wk because some Internet marketer sold them a program with false promises. Other times it is because working at home isn’t as easy as they were led to believe. What many don’t realize that any “work at home” program is exactly what the name implies – WORK. The fact is, 99% of people who try to become affiliates to earn money through the Internet fail because they give up within the first 6 months of the attempt.
Sometimes it is because of a scam program they bought and there are many of those to be wary of, but often it is because they had no schedule for themselves to follow in order to accomplish the work they needed to get done to be successful.
So let’s talk about affiliate marketing and what you need to do in order to begin making money.
First, with a good program, you will have gotten a website up on the Internet and have joined some affiliate programs in order to earn commissions. You will spend a number of hours in setting up the website and putting banners and links to your affiliates. This however, is only the beginning of being successful. In order for your website to be found you need traffic (visitors) to your website. This means getting backlinks to your site by writing articles on article directories, writing content for your website, posting on social networks, getting indexed in search engines, and a number of other tasks that need to be done in order to be found on the Internet. All of it helps you achieve ranking on the search engines when people query a search in the niche you have chosen.
This is the basics of Search Engine Optimization: Your visual blueprint for effective Internet marketing.
It can seem an overwhelming task and you can easily get nothing accomplished if you don’t have a plan. It can also seem unfeasible if you have other obligations, such as a part-time job, child care, social duties, or any type of personal life that requires you to do things other than work your website.
So, how do you get it done? By creating a work schedule on yourself and sticking to it. Also, you have to make any significant other aware that you have set a certain amount of time aside for your new “project.” You need that time without distractions so that you can work.
It doesn’t have to be a lot of time, as long as you get something done.
Let’s say you only have a part-time job. Maybe one of those that keeps you under 32 hours per week so they don’t have to pay you benefits. You work 6 hours a day, five days each week.
Use two hours (or more if you can) of your day after you get home to perform website tasks that need to be done.
If you are the child care provider at home, use the childrens’ nap time to work on your website, or even the hour it takes for the laundry to be washed and dried.
The point is, if you have any free time that is being twittered away (or wasted on sites like Facebook or Myspace to talk to friends), use it to your website’s advantage.
By writing down a schedule and things to be done during an assigned time you are more likely to get it done. It’s as simple as this:
Monday
1pm – 2pm Write two 400 word articles on my website.
6pm – 7pm Search Yahoo Answers website for questions regarding my niche. Answer the questions and leave a link to one of my articles that may be related.
Tuesday
1pm-2pm Write a 300 word article on an article directory website with backlinks to my website.
Wednesday
1pm – 2pm Write an article on Hubpages or Squidoo and reference my website with a link.
Thursday
1pm – 2pm Visit Facebook (or similar social network) and leave links to my website for friends to see.
Friday
1pm – 2pm Write two more articles on my website.
Saturday
8am – 9am Visit local businesses and ask if you can leave business cards about your website.
10am – 11am Join an Internet forum that relates to my niche and allows signature links. Participate in forum discussions (each post will leave a link to my website in my signature).
Of course, the above is only an example of times and things you can do to get your website found, but you get the idea. Have a plan and a schedule – and stick to it. If you have more time available that would be great, but it doesn’t have to all consuming of every free minute you have.
Creating a weekly schedule for yourself, every week, will have your website filled with articles and multiple backlinks throughout the Internet within a relatively short time. All of it will result in more visitors to your site and more money being generated as those visitors click on your ads you placed directing them to your affiliate companies, or even Adsense ads you present them.
While it should be pointed out that writing articles can be a bit daunting for many, there are ways you can “spin” one article in dozens of unique articles in a matter of minutes. As the saying goes, “Content is King” on the Internet and unique articles are loved by search engines. That combined with a good amount of backlinks will have your website bringing a fair amount of visitors quickly.
