The Power of an HTC Inspire 4G Smart Phone and Your Website

I just bought the HTC Inspire 4G smart phone – and it’s available for less than $70 through any of the links in this article! For years I avoided smart phones. I never jumped on the iPhone. I ignored the Blackberry when it was raved about. My phone was for talking and my laptop was for when I was on the road. I became a holdout that wasn’t about to spend $400 – $500 for the latest iPhone to hit the market. That is, until my old LG515 used up its’ battery life, my most recent 2 year contract expired, and the HTC Inspire 4G was due to be released. It was the perfect storm that did me a favor.

I was ready to stop riding the dinosaur. There were times I didn’t want to pull out my laptop to simply make a post for the purposes of SEO for my websites, or to post a link on Facebook. Other times it would have been nice to be able to access maps on a phone, rather than the paper maps in my vehicle.

Too many times I would be out many hours of the day and when I returned a half dozen emails would be waiting for me from people who use my services and needed a problem resolved, or a question answered. These are all tied to my websites, my business, and my need to have a way to respond faster while on the road. Thus, I began searching for a smart phone.

Forget the iPhone and the Blackberry. The HTC Inspire 4G is just so much better!

The HTC Inspire went on sale February 13, 2011. I investigated phones in the two weeks preceding its’ release date. I checked out the iPhones, the Blackberries, and numerous others. I talked to users of these different phones. iPhones, everyone agreed, were overpriced and overly hyped, but there are loyal iPhone users. Blackberry users seem to be those who would have liked an iPhone, but couldn’t shell out the initial outlay without needing to vomit.

What rose to the top was the manufacturer HTC. I hadn’t heard of them, but they are getting a reputation for making a quality phone and I then literally stumbled upon a YouTube video someone put up about the HTC Inspire 4G that they received before the release date in order to review the product. He went through only a few of the features available during the video and rated it highly. Then I began reading as much as I could about the HTC Inspire. Nobody had anything bad to say about it (other than it wasn’t an iPhone), gave it great ratings and were as impressed at the price tag of only $99, as I was.

So began my introduction to smart phones. Now, I’m no slouch when it comes to building websites and understanding coding, but I was a bit intimidated by the HTC Inspire. I had to get accustomed to how the touch screen works. Sliding, pinching, moving icons, opening screens… it was a bit overwhelming to me, as I went over much of it with the saleswoman at my local ATT/Cingular store where it is selling for $99 (I was willing to pay an extra $30 at my store to get it immediately and to get some valuable instructions). Being a new release, even she didn’t know everything about it, but we quickly got a grasp of those features that were new, or how to access those that weren’t to smart phones.

The HTC Inspire uses Android. Numerous Android apps are already loaded into the phone. I love Maps. That one gives me my location and allows me to see the roads around me. Slide the screen and new map sections tile into view. You can change from streets to satellite view and even use the GPS feature which give you a more accurate location of where you are.

Probably the biggest selling point that convinced me was a free feature called HTC Sense. If you lose your HTC Inspire you can go online to the HTC Sense website and locate it. If it was stolen you can also lock the phone remotely, leaving a message for anyone who tries to access it, and even clean the data from it as a final option.

Without getting long winded, I have a new freedom in getting and sending emails, my texting skills are improved with a qwerty keyboard (I was notoriously bad and slow using the number keypad on my old phones), I can access Facebook and Twitter, and I can even work on my websites if I need to make a quick post.

It has a 1GB processor, 4GB Internal memory, and comes with an 8GB SD memory card. It also boasts an 8 Megapixel camera, dual flash, and auto focus. It’s fast, clean, and easy to use.

I have to admit I love it. I now have to go bury my old dinosaur (actually I’m donating my old cell phone to support the troops).
