A Classified Ads WordPress Theme That Works
Before you read further know that one of my favorite plugins is A2P. There are more than 20 themes that are available from A2P that the developer has modified to work seamlessly with it. However, I wanted a theme that looked less like a blog and more like a listing resource for people interested in my niche.
Basically, a “hit-you-in-your-face” selling platform. ClassiPress delivers this exceptionally well. It even has it’s own support forum because beyond using Auction2Post with it, you can set up your own classified ads website for any purpose you choose – including charging for listings… but I digress.
The ClassiPress theme ends up looking like the picture below – and I apologize for what must seem like a Freedom of Information Act release from the government, but with as many people I have visiting this site I don’t need copycats competing within my cooking niche ( a very lucrative micro-niche, by the way).

As you can see it appears to be a classified listings site. I do mention in the banner that listings are made from private owners and are also found on eBay in certain instances. In reality all the listings are drawn from eBay and anyone who might actually try and post a classified ad is refused entry with a notice that registrations are closed due to server load exceeding capacity (please check back later – not that it will ever be available). This keeps spammers from posting anything and I also don’t have to deal with BS listings.
The search feature works for those targeting a specific item and by clicking a listing, the visitor is taken to a single post page that lists everything eBay has. In essence they are seeing the eBay listing BEFORE going to eBay, thus reducing the clicks sent to eBay if the visitor doesn’t like what they read. They stay on the site and look at another item. Eventually they find something they do want and off to eBay they go.
ClassiPress allows for multiple advertising revenue. The upper banner ad, as well as the WP125 plugin allows for 125×125 ads displaying on the single post pages. Adsense can be added for additional income to catch those who are planning to exit without purchasing.
The theme is a bit pricey, as to use it for only 1 site (having to keep the ClassiPress credit link) costs $59. To purchase a 1 site license without having the credit link is $79. I, of course, chose the devlopers license which allows me to remove the credit link and create ClassiPress themed websites to my hearts content in a variety of colors for $149.
The fact is that this theme works perfectly with Auction2Post. It was like they were made for each other and Auction2Post provides modified files made for ClassiPress so that you definitely have no problems.
As of this writing I have created 2 websites using the ClassiPress theme. Both started paying dividends within 1 week of inviting the crawlers. The only thing that delays me from creating additional sites is that I am currently adding articles to these sites.
Remember, no matter how good any theme or plugin may be, you should always have content on your website to get more Google love.
